Internet Access + Home Networking = HAI Web-Link
[November 12, 1999]
New Orleans [Louisiana] Home Automation, Inc. (HAI), a national manufacturer of residential networking systems and solutions, announces the immediate release of the latest Internet tool for HAI customers HAI Web-Link. With the click of a mouse, HAI Web-Link users can check on their property using MS Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator from any computer with Internet access. Further, HAI Web-Link allows users to adjust settings for lighting, heating and air, security and appliances using the familiar "point and click" friendliness of the Internet.
HAI Web-Link will work inside a home on a single PC, and with a group of PCs on a local network. It also takes advantage of the full-time Internet connection provided by increasingly popular cable modems, ADSL and other technologies. These connections, combined with Web-Link´s intuitive, easy to use pages make it quick and easy to check on the house, the kids and adjust the heat - right from your office PC. "HAI is proud to introduce the first practical Internet automation solution for homes and small commercial sites" said Jay McLellan, HAI president. "HAI Web-Link software is only $129, and the Omni product line is well known as the industrys price/performance leader. "
HAI Web-Link runs in the background on a Windows 95, 98 or NT computer connected to any HAI Omni-class controller. HAI Web-Link software generates Web pages for the controllers data that can be viewed locally and on any networked computer via Internet or Local Area Network. After installing HAI Web-Link, no set up is required: HAI Web-Link software obtains its configuration from the HAI controller, and presents a series of pages following the standard HAI menu format.
The Home page presents an overall summary of system status, including security mode, temperatures and messages; the Control page shows the status of each controllable device; and the Security page shows security system mode, zones and conditions. The Button page is for scenes or macros; the Temperature page is used to control and monitor heating and cooling system(s); the Events page time-stamps activities and events; and the Message page highlights selected messages. Each page offers comprehensive system status and full control capability providing home control over the Internet in a simple point and click environment.
HAI Web-Link represents another inexpensive tool in HAIs best-selling family of hardware, software, protocol and peripheral home networking solutions. HAI is the Single Solution source with products engineered to work together and with other manufacturers components with 24 / 7 reliability.
"Go online, give it a try!", says McLellan, "Simply go to www.homeauto.com and click on the HAI Web-Link graphic. Do it now to see the coolest , quickest route to real home networking."
